How Therapy Works

Therapy begins with an initial session when you have a chance to talk about the concerns, feelings and problems with which you would like help. If you have any previous records, psychological reports, or test results pertinent to your care, please bring them with you. Any additional records or contact that may be helpful may be secured by your therapist with a signed consent to obtain those records. Sessions typically last about 45 to 50 minutes, which is a recognised and customary clinical hour. Efforts are made to accommodate people at their assigned appointment times, except for unexpected and infrequent crises that on occasion your clinician may need to respond to.

Confidentiality

The Doctor-Patient Privilege is afforded to all patients receiving services (confidentiiality for those under 18 years is qualified). Limits to Confidentiality include potential harm to self or others, elder abuse, child abuse and through court ordered subpoena. HIPPA guidelines are also followed in terms of records and patient care.

Doctors/clinicians will also preserve the Doctor -Patient relationship by treating patients/clients with respect, not engaging in dual-relationships, and not engaging in unprofessional or sexual behavior.
